Dear Authors, Reviewers, and Readers,
To further enhance our service quality and user experience, providing a more efficient and superior service to our users, the journal Synthetic Biology Journal has developed a new submission & review system and website, which will be officially launched on January 5, 2025. The new platform represents a comprehensive upgrade in functionality, content, and user experience. Details regarding the new features and the transition arrangements for the websites and systems are outlined below:
I. Key Features of the New Website
1. A user-friendly new submission interface featuring intelligent parsing capabilities that automatically extract information such as the article title, abstract, and author details from uploaded documents. This significantly reduces manual data entry for authors and improves submission efficiency.
2. A new login option via SMS verification code. Authors and reviewers can now log in using their mobile phone number and a verification code.
3. After linking with the "Academic Pioneer" WeChat Official Account, users can receive updates on manuscript processing progress via WeChat.
4. A fresh visual design and user-friendly interface, resulting in cleaner pages and clearer navigation.
II. Important Notes for the Website Update
1. User accounts registered in the old system have been migrated to the new system; re-registration is not required. For the first login, users can access the system using their "username + password" or "mobile number + SMS verification code". After logging in, users can update their passwords and personal information. Subsequent logins can be performed using "mobile number/email/username + password" or "mobile number + SMS verification code".
2. Starting January 5, 2025, the registration and new submission functions in the old system will be disabled. No new manuscripts will be accepted through the old system until all existing manuscripts are processed, after which the old system will be permanently retired. Manuscripts submitted via the old website before January 5, 2025, will continue their review and publication processes within the old website and system until final decision (publication or rejection). During this period, authors and experts can use their original credentials to log in via the "Old Author Login Portal," "Old Reviewer Portal," or "Old Editor Final Review Portal" to access historical information, handle pending manuscripts, and back up data.
3. For the best experience with the new website, please use the latest versions of mainstream browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or 360 Speed Browser.
4. During the transition period between the old and new systems, if you encounter any issues or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Editorial Office.
